Timing signaling but MSM says no touch probe installed

Post by rflopes3 »

Hello,

I'm new to MSM and I have managed to get my touch probe to work correctly but the touch plate (in two signal mode) i can't.

I'm using Mach3 at the latest version
Windows 7 32 bit

The timing input for the touch plate is signaling when the TP touches the frame, the max distance is configured to 200mm witch is more than enough for all my tools.

I cannot understand what is going on.

Can you help ?

Hi,
Unless you let me know differently, I'll assume you are using a parallel port.

I'm guessing that you are seeing the timing signal activate by looking at the input pin led for the parallel port on the hardware page.
If so, that tells us that the touch plate is working electrically.

When using the two signal method, the touch plate will only activate the Probe LED on the screens when actually doing a TCP touch plate operation. This is because MSM dynamically switches between using the probe and timing signals - with the timing signal only becoming selected just before the touch of movement.

The use of the probe tool with the TCP is a special combination case. I'd like to know what a simple case does -

Please mount a simple tool (a drill bit or a piece of metal dowel, any thing that is conductive) in the spindle. then have MSM measure the tool (using slow feed rate) - does that complete successfully?
