Can't deactivate

I'm trying to update from 2.0.9 to 2.3.6. I just can't get 2.0.9 to deactivate. I've tried online deactivation -- says the deactivation was successful, then shows an error. I've tried proxy deactivation -- says the deactivation was successful, but I can do as many proxy deactivations as I want and it never actually deactivates. Thus if I try to install and run 2.3.6, the license manager sees my old license and I'm unable to activate 2.3.6.

Thanks,

Dan

It sounds like you are trying to update the version of MSM on a PC - is that correct? If so, you do not need to deactivate the previous version to do so. Just install the new version.

Deactivation is only needed if you want to *move* the MSM installation from one PC to another.

I can look up the activation history on the license server to see what it says. I see that you have multiple MSM licenses, so I 'll need t know what license ID to look at. It's probably better if you send me the license ID number via direct email (rather than post you ID on the forum). MSM at calypsoventures.com

Are you getting any activation error message? if so what is the message (Please be precise re the message wording - a screen shot of the message would be great).

To readers of this thread:
We got his fixed up.
The executive summary: Things can apparently get messed up on versions of windows with UAC if the MSM installer is not run with admin privileges. To prevent this in the future, the MSM install instructions are being updated to call for explicitly running the installer as administrator.
