Hi Dave
Yes the custom set act the same as the 1024 screen set, but can not read rpm of my high speed spindle.
I thik it has been some confusen her on my bit.
You have talked of the 1024 screen set as being the Mach3 screen wich it as I know now, but I have another Mach 3 screen wich I have refered to. (I will cal this screen for the M screen).
It is from this M screen I can read the high speed spindle RPM.
On my laptop I have the "Mach loader" where I load a mill called "Sieg KX3 3500". When loaded I get a Mach3 screen (the M screen). I thought this was the Mach3 screen, but now you have shown me that there is more to it.
Looking at the Mach dir. I see I have a Sieg KX3 3500 xml Document, (and also some more xml Documents). Has this any thing to do with this issue?

Ah, OK.
We may or may not have 3 screen sets involved then... I'll explain.

A mach profile (the xml file) contains settings for lots of things. One of the settings is what screen set the profile will load when mach starts. So screen set is stored separately from the profile.

What we want to find out is: What screen set is the Seig profile loading?
This is not too hard to look up, but an mach xml file can be long and the settings can be in the file in any order.

If you will email me the "Sieg KX3 3500" profile you are using, I'll look in it to see what screen set it is loading.

I sent two versions - they are the same fixed resolution as the master MSM screens - 10x7 (1024x768) and 12x9 (1280 x 980 or so). Mach does not support variable resolution pages (except for the old flash plugin).
So the screen sizes are fixed. I bet you have a wide aspect ratio (like a HD tv) laptop ?

If you want to make it all filled you have to distort the screen - there is a mach option to do that, but I hate it as it makes things pretty ugly. Look in mach menus, general config, "auto enlarge" option (it really should be called auto-ugly a circle will become ellipse etc).

I saw the seig file - I'll try to look at that tomorrow.

Hum,
I seem to have run out of ideas right now - here is what I find about what the CW buttons do:

Screen set button action
1024 OEM button call 110
Seig OEM button call 110
MSM (normal) Code"M3"
MSM (modified) OEM button call 110

So if the modifed MSM screen set is not acting the same as the 1024 and/or the seig screens for reading RPM, it must be something other than the button action. But I don't know what that is right now.

If I think of something else to try I'll let you know. :(

Hi Dave

Thanks for your efford, I have learnd a loot even if the RPM question was not solwed. Maby if you have a good night sleep som more ideas poops up?
Maby I should ask in the Mach forum?

Anyhow, I have been plying with opning MSM from different set files from MSM setting page. when opening 10x7 from Masters I get a nice screen cowering the whole desctop screen. When I do the same fom the Custom (the set file you sendt me, 10x7) the screen becom ugly and is smaller than the desctop screen and the circle is an ellipse. Do I have a bad download? I have downloadet 3 times.

Johannes

Add on:

We now know that 1024 and msm set files do not function as I would like with my hige speed spindle, but the Sieg 3500 set file do.
Dont know if this is to any help, but I have an old 1024 set file (2009) installed at my office PC (not used with a mil). When I run this set file on the office PC, Mach3 behaves as I would like. But when I try to open this older 1024 set file in my working PC I get the message that the fil is out of date and will not install. I attach the file (just in case).

FYI - I can't look at that set file- it looks as if it may be corrupted. Machscreen says it found an unexpected end of file when trying to open the file.

Thanks Dave
I have given up this project, but I have managed to mark the RPM around the pot. meter.

But now I have (for me) a bigger problem. The tool-load proces T#M6 do not work. (I do the T#M6 in the MID line but nothing happen). I have reloaded Mach3 and MSM and have the mill up and running (with all config. redone) but the tool-load.
Have I mist a button or is it a corrupt set file? How to fix this?

Johannes

Edit.
PUFF, I found the problem! In the General Configuration Dialog box the Ignore Tool Chang was checked, when unchecked all fine.

Thanks!

I have 2 more question, how to save all my settings and how to make a shortcut to the desktop. Perhaps I should start new treads?

Glad you found it - I was about to suggest that as something to check.

mach stores all it's setting in a "profile". A "profile" is really the XML file that you have mach load when mach starts. If you start mach without a command line that specifies a profile name (i.e. xml file name) then mach give you what is called "mach loader" where you get the dialog that show you the profile files that are in the mach3 directory.

To save you setting, you ca just make a copy of the profile XML file and save it some place safe.

You may also be interested in a utility script that is provided with MSM -
On the setting page there is a button "run Maint script" - when you click that it opens a file dialog showing various utility scripts; select the one called MachXMLConfigReport.mcc and run it.
That script looks at the loaded XML file and makes a report of the settings in the file. This can be printed or saved as a record of your configuration. Please note that the utility does not handle all possible XML settings, it only does the major ones (like ports & pins settings). Even if it does not cover all of mach's setting, it covers most of the important ones - if you ever find yourself with a totally destroyed mach setup and you need to build a new setup from nothing, this report can be very helpful as it will tell tell you all the major settings and this get you 90% of the way back to a working setup.

Re making a shortcut, just find the mach3 start menu icon, right click it, and select "Send to", "desktop crete shortcut" and you will have a new mach shortcut on the desktop. Then right click the shortcut, choose properties and you can edit the name and set the profile name to load when the shortcut is clicked.
Here is an example of the short cut line that starts MSM on my desktop PC:
C:\Mach3\Mach3.exe /p Smithy-1240-w-ppd
