Yes they have to be on the same pin. Mach only has one input signal for it's "probe input" and thus it uses one pin only.

Mach does not support two physical pins being connected to a single logical input signal.
For example, this is not possible in mach:
you can't connect a probe to Pin 12 and a touch plate to pin 13 and then make both pins 12 & 13 be the probe input signal.
The requirement to attach all devices that need to create a "probe event" to a single pin, can require some adjustments of the electrical levels of the devices external to the pin connection point (typically at the break out board). This situation is covered in chapter 6 of the MSM user manual.
