Gcode editor issues

Post by gdmarsh »

Recently switched to Bob Cad/Cam and so decided to try 'Predator editor' (gcode editor) that comes with it.
What happens the first time I click on the 'Edit' button in MSM .. a message box comes up asking me to pick the editor I wanted to use .. I navigate to Predator, select it & all is well .. or so I thought!
Up pops Predator, so I edit the last line of a large file, click save, & another message box tells me the 'Demo version' that comes with Bob C/C will only save 150 lines of code.
OK, I'm not ready to spend any more money on their software at this point so I'll just switch back to Notepad .. again, so I thought!
I goes into Mach3 General Config & find that Notepad is still selected as the editor???
I try navigating to the correct location, re-select Notepad, hit OK, close the program, restart, double check that Notepad is the editor of choice in Gen Config, click on Edit button & Predator still comes up!

BOTTOM LINE: I CAN'T GET RID OF IT NOW ..
I even uninstalled Predator .. but now when I click on Edit .. I get a message box telling me the editor program is not found on the disk .. no option to pick another & Notepad is still shown as the editor in Gen Config.
It seems pretty obvious that Predator is up to NO GOOD in trying to sell their software .. My hope is that I be pointed somewhere at the file level, macro level, etc .. to change editor programs.
I browsed through the XML file but didn't see anything that seemed to apply. Any help would be much appreciated.

Mach R3.043.066 -- MSM V.2.1.6

Hi,
MSM does not use the editor set via the mach config dialog.
Search the MSM user manual for "G-code editor" to get more details.
To change the gcode editor (and the non-gcode editor and the pdf reader) that MSM uses, go to the settings Common page and click the "set util paths" button.
