Some Questions and Suggestions

Post by boyan »

Hi,

Have been testing the software in trial mode this days. First let me say-GREAT job! Better than i expected. I will definitely get it these days when i finish with the testing. Great manual, i am impressed. I was unaware how good screen set is this one, i thought it was the usual visual crap. Now i see its much much more...

So here are my thoughts and some ideas. I will start directly with the few small details i started missing right away. I hope its not a great deal to be implemented in future update.

-XY0 and Z0 separate buttons, instead of "Go To 0" or beside. XY0 i see it as a must.
-Small window to be seen which profile exactly is loaded. A must for me.
-the good old button that starts screaming when axis are not referenced properly or some mach 3 adjustment is changed from normal state. This always saves me from accidents when i turn on off something by mistake
-a small window that is present when mach3 is turned off untill actually mach3 goes off. Cause now i close mach3, 3-4 seconds pass and then when i think all is closed and ready to start it again i see window popping " do you want your fixture saved" . So it means somebody could mess things up restarting mach3 without knowing that its still working in background. That shut off window should go out last of all processes.

I read the manual and started slowly learning it.

The only thing that gives me trouble is that from time to time something messes up in Mach3. Clean install of it on clean PC. So from time to time the machine coordinate system and the WC system mess up. I managed to cure it provisionally after a couple of re-installs. W7 32bit. I dont know who is the guilty one, mach3 probably, though without the screen set works ok. I cured it by REF all . restart mach 3, find WC 0 and the load the file. anything different makes funny mistakes. see the picture. I tried to pocket a circle and see where it goes each time . At the picture can be seen the intended pocket and the mistaken path. Lost all day today fiddling with that. It seems it ruins the xml file, cause later repeats it even with Mach3 only. Good that i had backup. Any idea whats happening?

And another question. Works with the Galil? I read here that the latest plugin is not in the mach3 forum, then could you help? Cause i am building a machine right now with Galil DMC-2183

You can customize MSM to make changes like this for your use. See section 15 of the user manual.

Hit the tab key to get the flyout- see window at the bottom of the flyout page.

This one won't be coming to MSM. Way back when MSM was speced and implemented, that particular button was not included as it caused many customer support problems. Art told me he wished he'd not invented that button... the problem is that there is not really a consistent "normal" state that applies to all mach run CNC machines so the button was wrong as often as it was right.

If you like the button, you can customize MSM to include it.

I understand the issuse; Alas, I can't fix from the interfaces that MSM has available from mach. That would need to be done in the mach 3 source code.

If you are getting changes in the mach 3 xml file it is not from MSM. A strict design rule for MSM is that MSM never, ever writes to the mach XML profile file. That was a early decision made to avoid just this type of problem (One can't accidentally corrupt a file that is not written to).

I don't have the Galil plug-in for mach3. Contact the mach gang to get it. I know it exists as CVI has OEM customers that use it with MSM for custom machines.
