Path Pilot?

Hello, I know you have been asked the "Mach4 question" several times and I completely agree the whole Mach3/4 transition is a complete "Charlie Foxtrot". Conversely the new Path Pilot from Tormach seems to be the opposite. And if you were to throw in with anyone it seems this wou...

Re: Probe Calibration for run-out

What I did is launch the Tormach config and adjust my probe then close it and launch MSM. It would be nice if MSM had this feature but it something that you should do rarely enough that having to launch a different config isn't a really big deal. So Dave given the state of Mach3, have you given any ...

Re: A probing/tool setter dilemma in Probe as MT

How about if I measure the probe off the mill at its triggered length then subtract the toolsetter trigger distance and manually enter that in the (PTL? or TLO?) and indicate it is in an RHH (which it is) and set it to be the MT? MSM then should not measure it and as long as I have the mill properly...

A probing/tool setter dilemma in Probe as MT

I want to use my probe as the master tool for doing tool changes but my tool setter has some give and the probe has some give such that I don't know how to accurately measure the probe. When I use it as the master tool, all tools measure too short and so end up closer than one inch after doing a Z1....

Re: M998

Yep that was it! Oddly enough the preprocessor comes right from Tormach and it outputs this code. You'd think that they would know better. I'll be sure to tell them. I also solved a different problem that has been nagging me by changing out a parallel port cable. Two big breakthroughs in one day. I ...

Re: Strategy for changing WCOs by probing

Actually I may have figured out what is happening. I believe if I can solve my Z axis tool change problem then this one will be solved also. What was happening is during the tool change after the first tool, I was hitting the z axis limit switch. That of course dereferences the machine. I was trying...

Re: M998

Thanks Dave. I found in the post processor where the M998 was generated and commented it out. It now doesn't appear in the G code but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. I have narrowed it down to this line: T2 G43 H2 M6 If I manually enter T2 M6 then there is no problem. If I enter the whol...

M998

I am trying to implement the probe as master tool setup strategy and am having problems. I have a PCNC1100 so I started with the Tormach supplied XML file for it when initially configuring MSM. The problem I am having is that on a tool change the Z axis hits its "+ limit" which then of cou...

Re: Strategy for changing WCOs by probing

The approach of putting in an M1 then probing doesn't seem to work. The G55 WCS is shifted in the +X direction. Y and Z are right so I am not sure what is happening. I am at a bit of a loss what to try next.

Re: Ports Swapped

Mystery solved. I didn't realize that I has to exit and restart MSM for the port naming change to take effect. I hit the "Apply" button in Mach's port config screen and nothing changed when I got back to do some more testing and restarted the system, the port were named correctly. It was i...
